Mrs. Adegbuji-Onikoyi was born into the illustrious family of Mr. Samuel Folahan Amore and Mrs. Christiana Abiodun Amore in Oyo State on February 14, 1956. For her elementary education, she attended Abadina Primary School, University of Ibadan from 1962 to 1968 and acquired her Primary School Leaving Certificate.
She thereafter proceeded to St. Bernadine’s Girls’ School Oyo, Oyo state, for her secondary education between 1969 and 1974 and passed out in flying colours. She also attended The Polytechnic Ibadan for her higher school certificate (HND) from 1974 to 1976. She gained admission to the University of Lagos Akoka, Lagos State, in 1976 to study Accounting. Mrs. Adegbuji-Onikoyi graduated in 1980 with a B.Sc. (Hons.). She then proceeded for her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) which she completed in 1981. Her post graduate and professional experiences are in the areas of Financial and Management Accounting, Banking, Auditing and Tax Consultancy.
The Seasoned Accountant started her career from Lagos State Local Government Council in1981 and rose to the post of Council Treasurer. Her remarkable career in Local Government took her to several Local Governments where she served in various capacities. In November 2003, she transferred her service to the mainstream of Lagos State government as an Assistant Director. She served in the office of State Auditor-General between the year 2005 to 2010 and her contribution to the office remains a reference point.
On 1st October 2010, she was transferred to the Ministry of Finance (Central Internal Audit Department) and her duties then included:
- Ensuring internal controls are adhered to State wide.
- Ensuring systems audit are carried out State wide.
- Mitigating, detecting and controlling risk in government operations State wide.
- Supervising Internal Auditors’ State wide.
As a result of her hard work, relentless effort to improve service delivery in Lagos State, Mrs. Adegbuji-Onikoyi was highly recommended by the then Permanent Secretary (Ministry of Finance) and former Head of Service Mrs. Josephine Oluseyi Williams. In December, 2013, she was appointed as the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance by Mr. Babatunde Fashola the former Governor of Lagos State. While serving as a Permanent Secretary, the Ministry achieved an increase in Revenue Base and an improved quality of infrastructure in the State, making the office a model financial organisation in the Federation through effective policies’ implementation.
She also represented the Ministry on the Boards of Micheal Otedola College of Primary Education, Lagos State Microfinance bank among others, contributing to the running of the organisations and giving professional advice as necessary.
In the course of her Career Progression and development, she has attended various local and International courses, conferences and seminars in the areas of Public Sector Financial Management and Reporting, Information Technology Innovations and Development, Credit Analysis, Human Resources Management, Strategic Thinking and Planning, Leadership Training and Development.
She was a fellow Chartered Accountant, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN- 2006), member, ACTI Chartered institute of Taxation of Nigeria (2008), member, FCTI Chartered institute of Taxation of Nigeria (2017).
She is happily married and blessed with children.
